A Junk Journal from Smitten with Shabby is a one-of-a-kind treasure. Each journal, a work of art in itself, is more than bound pages made to admire, inspire, or become a place for your memories to live, breathe, and shine. Each piece is lovingly crafted, brimming with time, care, and imagination, ready to become a part of your life's narrative.
My Latest Journal
This beauty is a blend of aged papers, botanical charm, and perfectly imperfect textures. Think rusty tones, vintage florals, lace, layers, and all the grungy goodness you love.
Handmade with lottsa love, no two are the same.
Unlike my usual journals filled with vintage book pages, ephemera, and found materials, this one is almost entirely made with beautiful scrapbook paper and a perfectly tailored tapestry cover. It’s a bit of a departure from my “junkier” style — but I absolutely love how it turned out!
Layers and layers of lace and butterflies adorn this 100 page journal.
This gold and green beauty is the first journal I have made using the hard cover of an old book. The original fly pages add a special touch.
This, the biggest and almost the chunkiest junk journal I have made. It is chock full of pockets, tags, and other embellishments.
Using a safety pin to keep my journal closed? The journal was complete and overstuffed as usual. I didn't want to use anything that would cover up the pretty front. I looked at the holes in the eyelet lace...and alas I had an idea. It was something I had never thought of even though I use them all the time in making junk journals - a safety pin. :) I used a big safety pin to pin the two pieces of edge lacing together - and tied a big bow around it. I think it turned out kinda cute.
I don't often stray from black and ivory - this is another attempt at working with color.
I named this journal "The Lady In Black" even though the beautifully dressed woman in the image has seemed to have lost head. :) Something about "The Headless Lady in Black" just didn't work for me - plus it's past Halloween.
This birthday themed junk journal has a hidden spine attached to a cover made from a soap box and old curtain material.
The first journal I made as a gift.
Just like the little black dress, everyone needs a little black book journal, especially when it doesn't take more than an old cornbread box.
My second attempt at slow stitch yielded this beautiful journal cover.
With a cover of paper - literally, this journal, I call "The Dress Journal" was the absolute chunkiest I have made. So overstuffed with goodies, with a mind of it's own - it was difficult to find a way to close it.
This cute little journal in a box was made using an old cold medicine box.
This vintage-inspired Writer’s Junk Journal is designed with storytelling in mind. Named after the beautiful cover photo of two sisters, this journal is a perfect space for journaling your thoughts and memories
This is a real-time flip-through of one of the first journals I made. I was so unsure of it then that I only pinned the cover cluster on. :) I liked it so well, it's been that way since - and I think it's a pretty cool idea. It allows the recipient of the journal to do with it what they wish.
Vintage Village
This journal is perfect for memory keeping, creative journaling, or simply admiring the beauty of old-world aesthetics. I’ve carefully selected lace, tea-dyed pages, vintage book pages, and layered embellishments to give it that timeless, heirloom feel.
